Francis takes root in the company's headquarter office here in mid-February, and will be relocating with his wife from Atlanta. Francis brings to Plan Express an executive portfolio that shows vast experience in running companies successfully. Most recently he has been instrumental in turning around customer operations for NewRoads, Inc., a provider of outsourced catalog and e-commerce order management and fulfillment. Prior to that, he held executive positions at MRM Fulfillment (Raleigh, NC) as interim CEO/COO and at Perkin Elmer, Inc., (www.perkinelmer.com; NYSE: PKI) as Vice President, Global Customer Operations. He did this after a threeyear stint at SciQuest.Com (Raleigh, NC), where he set up all operational units (from green-field to fully scaled operations) as Vice President-Global Operations. His leadership at SciQuest.Com took the company from start-up to a 400 employee base. Francis began his career at Ernst & Young in London and Paris and joined Federal Express Corporation (www.fedex.com; NYSE: FDX) in Paris in 1988. During his 12 years at FedEx, he worked as European Controller and as a Managing Director in the Finance Division in Memphis, before returning to Europe as Vice President of FedEx's e-Commerce and Logistics business in Europe, Middle East and Africa where he directed the strategic and operational development of that division. Francis is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a Fellow of the Institute of Transport and Logistics and a Member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. He participates actively in the Global Supply Chain Management Advisory Board at the Kenan Flagler Business School at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and is a Member of the Society of International Business Fellows (SIBF) in Atlanta. He speaks regularly on e-commerce and supply chain issues at conferences and universities. Mr. Francis will rejoin the Board of Opera Memphis where he served from 1992 to 1994.
